Best Horror Games for the Oculus Quest 2 in 2022
Due to the rising popularity of VR in the last few years and years to come, there has been a demand for more VR games to be made to support the demand. And with that comes one of the most ambitious genres for VR, horror. While there isn’t many released as of writing this, it’s still good to know what games are available for play. These are some of the best horror games for the oculus quest 2 in 2022.
First on the list is one of the most highly rated games on the store, Lies Beneath. It’s an action-horror-shooter that is set-in small-town Slumber, Alaska. You play as Mae and your objective is to fight through the town to save your father and re-discover the memories you left behind. It’s a very fun game with amazing horror that will keep you scared and excited for more.
Often compared to the title Alien: Isolation, Cosmodread is a survival horror game set upon a space station. With a procedurally generated level each time you play, you must collect resources and survive the dark halls of the station to find your way back home. This is not a very easy game according to reviews and developers so expect a challenge that’ll scare you at the same time.
Layers of Fear VR
If you’ve played horror games other platforms before then undoubtedly, you’ve heard of Layers of Fear. The game was ported for VR capabilities and is rated very highly on the oculus store. The only downside that players were reportedly having is a downgrade in graphics and a few glitches here and there. Overall, still a solid horror game to play and should be on your to play list.
One of the first horror games released for VR made by an independent developer was Dreadhalls. It’s often said to be the Amnesia of VR Horror and is one of the highest rated ones on the store. If you’re interested in doing puzzles, being chased by a scary monster, and walking in the darkness then this game is for you.
Five Nights At Freddy’s: Help Wanted
The classic jump scare horror game series Five Nights At Freddy’s is back with another new horror game but this time available for VR. A collection of mini games in the FNAF universe that will scare you just like the original games. If you haven’t played the original don’t worry, according to the reviews it’ll scare you just as badly and it’s just as hard as before.
AFFECTED: The Manor
AFFECTED: The Manor is simple walking simulator horror game. Playing out like walking through a haunted mansion at a theme park, hold a lit candle and walk around getting scared. The reviews for this game are more positive than not, but if you’re looking for anything more than just walking around this is not the game for you. Although if you buy the complete edition, it has mini games, a speedrunning mode, and a darker mode.
A game inspired by F.E.A.R., MGS, and Resident Evil comes République VR. An episodic horror game that focuses on stealth and exploration in a dystopian setting like (according to reviews) George Orwell’s 1984. One problem that seems prevalent though is that at chapter 5 there is a glitch that bricks the entire game. So, if you do end up playing this horror game be careful of the glitch.
Blair Witch VR
Blair Witch if you haven’t heard of it, is a cinematic video game based on the universe of the Blair Witch movie. You play as Ellis who was a former police officer with a troubled past who is brought onto an investigation for a missing child and a killer on the loose. While this game in VR adds to the horror that the original can not recreate, it is not built from the ground up for VR. Lots of issues have been reported with this game with bugs remaining from the original and more bugs created with VR not being completely compatible. Still though, if you’re looking for an exciting and scary experience, Blair Witch VR is for you.
